1978 r100rs oil cooler oil filter install

Hi all
Just to be clear, the hinged oil filter that I am about to install on a 1978 OIL COOLER INSTALLED R100RS has an attached black seal on one end and not on the other. The seal end goes in first correct? On the thermostat end of the oil filter there isn't a seal. The thermostat/ cover first gets the black gasket, then the smaller diameter back seal, then the white o ring and then the metal shim. Is all of this correct? Thanks all

Be sure you get the orientation of the white o-ring and thin shim correct. The shim is designed to be placed against the sharp edge of the canister in the engine case, so as to keep that sharp edge from cutting the white o-ring.

I doubt you could get the filter in reversed. The inner tube increases in diameter about 3/4 inch in. Easily seen in parts fiche and by your looking.
