'05 R1200RT, Optimate 4 Dual Program charger causing Photon Blasters to light up.

Greetings all,

I just purchased a new Optimate 4 CAN-bus compatible battery charger, with the charger in CAN-bus mode I plug into the power port on the clutch side fairing. After some clicking noises, the Optimate causes my fork mounted Photon Blasters and upper running/turn lights to come on, even with the ignition off.

Has anyone seen or heard of this?

Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Photon Blasters connected with Skene's IQ-150-TS Controller

The fork Mounted Photons are connected with provided IQ-150-TS Controller.
The upper Turns were also connected in strict accordance with the leads from the IQ-150-TS Controller.
I also used the required load resistors as specified in figure 1b, here.

Edited to add:
Before connecting the new Optimate 4, I had completed a full service on the bike and made sure I had no faults with my GS-911.

But what is the power source for the Controller? It sounds like you connected it to auxiliary power outlet or the GPS power supply by the steering stem. These are both on the same circuit.

Tap into the parking light wire instead.

Power source

Power source is a switched fuse block as recommended by Skene. Fuseblock is made by touratech.

And the fuse block has a relay that is connected to what?

Can-Bus aware chargers enable the accessory socket. If the relay trigger is tied into the accessory outlet then all accessories tied to your fuse block will come on when the charger is connected. That is one of many reasons why some people prefer to have a dedicated connection to the battery for their charger.

Touratech fused relay came with the bike

Well, I'm sure the power to the fuse block is direct to the battery. Last time I looked; It appeared the fuse block trigger wire ran to a wire connected the alarm system. I boght the bike in August '11 and the fuse block was installed.

You missed the point of a previous message.

Your fuse panel is drawing its power from a circuit that is turned on by your charger. That is how such chargers work- they "trick" the bikes ZFE into keeping the circuit live for the outlet they're plugged into- and if that set of circuits includes what powers your fuse panel it will also be live as will the PBs connected to it.
As was said, you need to rewire- connect your fuse panel trigger to your parking light (or the starter cutoff or aything else that is direct ignition key control rather than ZFE controlled) and the problem will stop.
