Going To The Sun Ticketed Entry

To those of you who plan to visit Glacier Park:

The NPS had implemented a ticketed entry for Glacier National Part beginning May 21, 2021. Further information is available at:

Note that this is in addition to the regular park entry fee.

THIS Ticketed Entry Process is Effective BEGINNING ... MAY 28th.

This appears to be a fact according to my research. It's government, your attempt may vary and their parameters/availability may change, but.

The earliest opportunity for a ticket, for the three week period that would include the Rally, and the before & after week of advanced reservations... appears full.

Now it will take pure luck or trickery to ride "the Sun" during that period.

Going to the Sun Timed Ticket sign up: Disaster

Sat on computer (didn't work, lost self employed electrician pay) at 6am MT on April 29 to sign up, site delayed opening til 8am. Sat there then and too busy first few times then at 8:10 MT some dates appeared to be not sold out but were out, finally got a 7 day ticket for June 17th (til 22nd) for a motorcycle.

Now, two days before 7 days before you want to ride you are supposed to log in at 6am MT and get one of the last 25% and try each day for up to 7 days, up to 2 days before, until you get one. Remember from above the first 75% went in less than 10 minutes for late June.

It's a mess unless you ride before 6am, sunrise is 5:33 or after 5 pm, sunset is 9:42 pm MT on June 24, lots of daylight left up there then though.
