Hello. I’m new to this site. Thanks in advance for any and all information and guidance.
I am replacing a fuel distributor and plan to lift the rear frame to do so. Is it required to disconnect the neutral switch and side stand switch.

Only if not doing so will stretch the wiring. I frankly don't remember but my practice is to always to do a little more than absolutely necessary because it is almost always easier in the long run.

It can be done without lifting the rear frame.
Check out Steptoes posts on UK GSer and Adv Riders Forums

I did mine on a '00 R1100RS without lifting the rear frame.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread but I'm planning on replacing my own fuel pressure regulator in a few days and I'd like to know how you did it.

Or, GSAddict, do you have a link to those posts you mentioned? I did a user search and couldn't find any posts by Steptoes on the ADVRider forums.

I assume the cheaty way involves removing the battery and its bracket, as well as the Bowden cable linkage box underneath? That's how it looks possible based on my own bike, at least.
