Fascinating as the weather in general seems a bit whacked out lately.

Yeah, we had a doozy of an electrical storm Thursday night last week. Everyone I have talked with around the SF and Monterey bay areas -- and I'm about 80 miles south of SF -- saw the spectacular lightning. It's not a normal thing in these parts; we get strong storms in off the Pacific that will just dump a ton of water, but it's very unusual to get an e-storm like this.
