Cleaning Wheels & Spokes

While I am in possession of my friend's R75/5 I thought I would clean it up a bit. What do you use for cleaning/polishing wheels and spokes on these bikes? I am looking at those turn signals too. Are they aluminum? Any nifty ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

Autosol works well, but after trying just about everything on the planet, I found a product called Dri Wash n Guard. This stuff when applied very lightly will turn your cloth black which means the you are removing the surface oxidation for aluminum. Chrome on plastic this product will work, but don't put gobs on it. A drop will be more than enough!

I can almost say, once you have used it, you will be a believer as I am now.

Elbow grease and...

I use a combination of 0000 steel wool followed by Happich Simichrome on chrome and stainless spokes. Cheese cloth and Happich work to clean and polish aluminum rims too. I've used "Mothers" and "Flitz" with excellent results. I'll have to try Autosol. The elbow grease is the component that makes all of the stuff work though...

3M make Scotchbrite abrasive wheels that fit on a bench grinder. They are available in varying levels of abrasion, but none so severe that they would scratch aluminum. I have no association with the company, but have had very good results and saved hours of buffing by beginning polishing projects with this tool.
