Have the same issue on my '05 GS running Michelin or Metzler. Someone once told me it was a function of the telelever but I have my doubts. I have noticed it gets worse if your wheel has excess runout (wire wheels). Bad suspension can make the problem worse (happen faster). The only solution I've found is higher pressures. I run 40 to 42 in the front and the problem seems to go away.
Commonality 40 psi, next time when either of you installs a fresh tire use 32 psi and your problem will go away. It is not a tire problem but a case of too much air pressure. I had the same issues on my front tires until I lowered air pressures, as far as tire life typically I get 10k on a rear with close to twice for front.
