What's the story behind the vintage race machine at the top? Looking at Knittel and Slabon's book, that appears to be an RS54 from 1954. Is it a replica or one of the 24 (20 solo and 4 sidecar bikes) that were built at the time?

I lied.I did not own the RS.I took the picture of it at the Hockenheim race in 1954.
It got onto the page when I digitized some of my old photos. The other bikes
(R 67 with Steib,R2)I did own.

My memory fades just like the old pictures. The RS might have been ridden by
"Schorch" Meier. The competition (I think) was Heiner Fleischmann on the
4 cylinder NSU(singende Saege) and DKW had a 3 cylinder 2cycle with
mechanical fuelinjection.I checked the back of the old photos:the RS
was in Schotten in 1955,not in Hockenheim.
