Okay, I'm brand new to any forum, I am two and a half from being an actual BMW owner. Currently I ride an 05 Road King(aka the 80 mph Lazyboy recliner). Been thinking about a BMW for a couple of years, got to the Rally in Tn last month and realized that I'm a Beemer with a Harley. Decided to reconcile that problem. The BMWMOA rally was truly an eye opener, I was more than impressed by the organization and the instant raport (sic) with the other attendees. You folks are great.

Welcome Jaroslav,

There are more than a few of us that made that transition...and a few more that still have both. I actually traded my Heritage for a 05 GS a few years back...I already had an 05RT I was riding all the time,so did not miss the big pig!

Good luck in your search and purchase...you'll find the same rapport with the general population on the forum as well...Some still poke fun at the V-Twins,but that's OK..it's all good!

Welcome - great place to start

You can scour all the bike sub forums and get a feel for the different ones.

Check in often and let us know when you end up getting

Glad to have you here! I think you'll find the same good folks you met at the rally. Make yourself to home - you're family! :thumb

I'm a little behind in my correspondence, so thank you all for the welcome. Now if I can just figure out how to stick a pic into this thread you'll be able to see the soon to be my baby. I'm flying up to Atlanta, Ga on the 29th and riding it back to Houston. I feel like a kid at Xmas.

Welcome aboard -- we met at the Houston BMW club meeting a couple of weeks ago. I also have a HD that I'm selling after joining the BMW ranks a few months ago. Have a safe and fun ride returning from Atlanta and post some pics of the ride if you can.

Santa is good to you, you will never regret going the way of the BMW, I was a Goldwing rider for years and will never go back, nothing wrong with the Goldwing but it's just not the same.

And Welcome

Great choice -

My GS took me to the Arctic Ocean and back. Extraordinary machine.

Welcome aboard for the adventure.:german

Nice bike!

Wow, what a nice GS. The blue and white paint is my favorite for the R1150GS series. They are tall bikes, I found that I didn't fit the R1150GS but can flatfoot the R1200GS. I moved up to a R12GS this year. They're great bikes. Welcome aboard.
