Gold in my oil

98 r 1100 rt.Changed the engine oil today and found shiny brass in the old oil.I did not wipe out the pan prior to draining, looked pretty clean to me.Where is their brass in the engine???

While I'm certainly no lube scientist, etc.,the tint of oil ,clean or dirty does cause metal particles to take on a "gold" appearance. I suggest that you are seeing the "regular" stuff in there.:thumb

took the old oil filter and completely dissected it.Found absolutely no trace of any metal.Must have been in the drain pan to begin with.My son must have an audi problem.(last one to change oil before selling it) Problem solved!
Thanks guys.
