Ride Connected App Setup

I am going to be renting an R1250RT that has TFT next week and wanted to pre-load my Basecamp created maps to the app ahead of time. But the app won't let me do anything unless I have a "connected" motorcycle. Anyone know of a way around this? I like to check my maps before going out on a trip to make sure they loaded correctly.
 
The Similar Threads pane below has a number of past threads on the Connected App...maybe some illumination might be there??
