Off-Pavement Training at the St. Paul Rally
The BMW MOA Rider Performance University Off-Pavement Program has created a wide range of rider training opportunities for you at the 2014 MOA rally. Along with the street classes and GEARS Training for young riders there will be indoor seminars, off-road exhibitions and three levels of outside hands-on training. The tuition for all classroom sessions is included in your rally entrance fee.

Dirt Bike Training for Street Riders
Thursday, July 24, 800 a.m.- 400 p.m. Off-Pavement Training Range #1
This class is perfect for street riders who want to learn how to handle dirt or gravel in construction zones and detours. It is also a great way to learn slow speed parking lot control using body position and clutch friction zone. Small dirt bikes will be provided for your use in the class or you may use your own motorcycle if it has suitable tires. Enrollment is limited. The cost for this intensive six-hour Motorcycle Safety Foundation class will be paid by the BMW MOA Foundation on a first come, first served basis.
Woman Only Dirt Bike Training
Friday, July 25, 800 a.m.- 400 p.m. Off-Pavement Training Range #1
This beginner-level class is a wonderful opportunity for women to learn to deal with less than perfect conditions. You will learn how to do slow, tight turns, go over bumps and handle poor traction with a smile. Small dirt bikes will be provided for your use in the class or you may use your own motorcycle if it has suitable tires. Enrollment is limited. The cost for this intensive six-hour Motorcycle Safety Foundation class will be paid by the BMW MOA Foundation on a first come, first served basis.
Off-Pavement GS Training.
The world class instructors from the U.S. Rider Academy (BMW Performance Center) will present three different two-hour intermediate level classes on how to ride the BMW GS to it?s design capacity in off-road situations.
Thursday: July 24, 8:30 am - 10:30 am+ Off-Pavement Training Range #2
Friday: July 25, 8:30 am -1 0:30 am+ Off-Pavement Training Range #2
Saturday: July 26, 8:30 am - 10:30 am+ Off-Pavement Training Range #2
Each class will focus on control selection and body position to reduce stress in rough conditions. Students must bring their own motorcycle to the class and any brand is okay. The scope of your participation in the class may be limited by your comfort level and the type of tires you are running. Your tuition costs for this amazing two-hour class will be paid by the BMW MOA Foundation on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested sign-up right away because space is limited.

GS Giant Competition Training
Thursday Evening, July 24, 7:00 p.m. GS Giant Tent. The GS Giants competition will be held on Friday afternoon. Rider?s will be pushed to their limit to complete the off-road course without falling or dabbing (putting a boot down to keep the motorcycle from falling).To help competitors and other interested GS riders complete the tough course Ramey ?Coach? Stroud and the instructors from the U.S. Rider Academy (BMW Performance Center) will present advanced skills training in two parts. First there will be a panel discussion about each of the obstacles riders will face on the track. Approach, control function, body positions and power or braking will be discussed in detail. After the chalkboard session riders will be able to suit-up and train on the course under the watchful eyes of top instructions. You can?t buy training like this -- it's included in your rally admission.
