I really love The Refused Party Program. The last minute of the song is really fun to crank up extremely loud.

If the kids.....are united....they can never.....be divided!!!!

go see them once if you get a chance, great show. for me, their stuff is a bit tedious, esp since they're one of those bands that just kept on releasing crap for years after anyone cared, but live they're funny and play at least half good stuff.:thumb

Creedence...

Anything of theirs is great.

The epitome of American music and precursor to punk rock.

Almost got to see them last month while I was in Pittsburgh, but show was canceled last minute. It would have been a great place to see them too. I would be surprised if the place could hold 300-500 people.

well...

come to think of it, that's probably why the show didn't go on.

Their name alone would generate a small festival.

Machine Gun Etiquette is my fav of theirs. Bit of different stuff going on.

As for the Blitz, man I haven't thought of them in a while. Reminds me of party's in Oakland (Pittsburgh) with the coin kids past out in the hallway, and people doing ridiculous things they should have stopped doing years ago. Dude was making bets that he WOULD toss himself down the stairs and of course we placed bets just to watch him tumble himself down the stairs. He did it twice... Man this is bringing back fond memories

Recently I have found this band intriguing, Metal meets opera........

i like a lot of black/death metal from a conceptual point of view, but to listen to most modern stuff is a chore for me. i can much more appreciate the overall sound of the real early black metal bands, because, frankly, it's a lot more "rock and roll" and catchy.

combined with the fact that, all things considered, these dudes might have just as easily been punks, skinheads, NWOBHM dudes or even hair metal guys. the overly serious aspect of the "lifestyle" taken on by much of the current crop is what i find to be a bit, i dunno, silly............

:hungover

Who are you Sasha Frere-Jones from the New Yorker? :ha

(I think he did his dissertation on obscure funk-polka bands from Yonkers, between May and September, 1969)

Bingo. I own a ton of it (although never taken it seriously)*, because I've gone through phases.

I remember being blown away by the blast beats on:

It's like; Damn, that guy is playing those live? I can maybe do a minute of it followed by a long nap.

i don't care for their (and their compatriots in Mehyem, Buzrum, etc) lack of respect towards Norwegian national and historic treasures.

Yeah, I borrowed it from a fried who takes black metal seriously. Now, his collection is impressive.. and embarrassing.

I just found out there's a somewhat related documentary called Until the Light Takes Us. I'm acquiring it now.
