2023 R1250R Cracked Plastic

Remove plastic panel from tank side panel, Crazy Glue the crack from the back side, let cure 24 hours, reassemble in reverse order, ride motorcycle and enjoy life.
The only thing I have had luck with Crazy/Super Glue working on is cold/dry weather finger cracks…… in a RedNeck surgical glue kinda way. 😬
For an inside plastic repair/reinforcement, I use West System G-Flex epoxy with a piece of fiberglass cloth embedded.

IMHO, Crazy/super glue isn't really a very strong or durable glue. It gets into cracks better than many. However, if you mix some baking soda in with the crazy/super glue, it does become an extremely strong and much more durable glue. If you go the baking soda and crazy/super glue route, don't do so on the good side of the plastic, as I've not been able to leave a very clean glue line.

Off topic....

I once Crazy Glued a broken cooling fin back onto the head of a Honda motor after I had the bike fall over in the driveway. (I refuse to say who's fault it was even though I was the only one near the bike)

Lasted for two years until I sold the bike. For all I know, it's still there. :)

That's what I did when my S bike fell over (don't ask) and cracked the side panel. Glued it up from behind very, very carefully. Put it back on the bike. Rode it happily.

Here's the part information for the left side 1250 RS from MAX fiche
46 63 8 545 319 LATERAL TRIM PANEL, LEFT 0.84 1 $172.81

Thanks. But that is not the actual lower trim panel for the 2023 R1250 R. I do have the parts number now. BMW shows it Not Available. Bob's Motorcycles shows it in their list, but their general info states they may not have certain items in stock and would have to source through BMW and it could take a couple months. I have sent them an email to ask if they actually have it and they have not yet responded.

I have glued the backside with Loctite Super Glue and let it sit for two days. You have to look close the see the hairline crack on the outside. I'll put back on bike today and see if riding vibration eventually exposes it again.

Check A&S BMW. They got me some body panel parts (outer panier covers only) sourced out of Germany in less than a week for a great price.
