Suggestions on Selecting Bar Risers (How High and/or Back)

So I had a one-day course in introduction to adventure riding. While I learned a lot of riding techniques, I also learned my bike needs a few more mods. One of those is bar risers and/or back. When standing I found myself hunched over with my arms fully extended, which became a little tiresome. I figure some bar risers are in order; however, I'm not sure how much up and/or back I should get. If money were no object, I just order a bunch of risers and see which was best. Since I don't feel like throwing money to the wind, does anyone have some suggestions on how to narrow this down a bit?

The bike: 2018 R1200 GS
Me: A little over 6 feet.

Thanks,

Jeff
