Strange starting

2012 BMW r1200. GSA
Turn key on. dash lights up
Press starter & everything shuts off.
Turn the key on and off 5 or 10 times.
Starts up and it’s fine all day. Even if it sits a
couple hours during the day.
Been to BMW, they were unable to fix.
Told me to wait until it will not start at all.
That could be a problem living in Alaska
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad/intermittent power/ground connection. Could be external like connection surfaces on battery terminals, battery cables to frame ground or starter solenoid, maybe even internal to the battery plates.

I’d start by insuring the battery connections are good. Sometimes a bad battery will act this way too.

I will start with checking the ground connection

I had BMW install the proper lithium battery couple of years ago
and it’s been good.
and they checked the connection.
But they did not check the ground connection.
The BMW shop here in AK ok for tires & oil change.
So again thanks for getting me started.
Ps ; I’m an old camper still hanging in there also
