In February I was lucky to acquire a 1996 R850R, 24K miles very good condition. Naturally I had to set about farkeling to suit my particular interest and needs. One particular need I have is a bike that fits my 34” inseam. It seems the engineers at BMW must have taken great offense to the song “Short People” and designed limitations to those of us over 5’ 10” tall as their retribution.
Standard fix for this is a Peg Drop kit, which while it helps still does not position my butt in the location it wants to be at. After some study I was able to determine there is a way to move the seat back about 1.25”. Note this does impact the rear pillion seat.
Attached are instructions with photos of my solution. If anyone wants some drawings of the new Pillion pan feel free to reach out.
