R1100RT front tire

just put the Pirelli Angels on the back . Not crazy about the Chinese manufacture though. Going to need a front soon. Lots more choices for the front. Thinking Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT , $180 on Amazon. The Continental ContiMotion are 85, less than half. Are the Michelin that much better for a 1100rt? Reccomendations? The front metzlers are wearing badly, typical left side scalloping.

The ContiMotion isn't a bad tire, its just not a good tire. Wears quickly with not a lot of grip.

Latest version of either Michelin Road or Dunlop Roadsmart seem to be very popular choices for the RT.

In tires, you get what you pay for.

I just today, replaced my 5000 mile Avon Storm front tire. I am using the Metzler Roadtec. Pricey from my local MC dealer, but I’m hoping for better mileage than the Avon. Interestingly, the matched Storm rear, is only half worn at the same mileage.

Michelin Road 4 GT, or Dunlop RS IV for the front (120x70x17). Either one is an outstanding tire.

I've now had both Michelin and Dunlop on my 2004 R1150RT. First was the PR4 (~8k miles with feathering on front) and now the RS4 (~1.5k miles) If I have to choose again, I think I would opt for the Dunlop. Just the seat of the pants feel from the Dunlop agrees with me more. They also had a rebate which helps even thought the base cost of the Dunlop was still lower than the Michelin through the BMW dealer close to me. Don't get me wrong in that the Michelin wasn't a good tire, as it is a fine tire.

Thanks,

I just put a set of Continental conti attack 3’s on my ‘99 RT and I’ve got about 1000 miles on them and they’re great.
