OEM Heated Seat Temp

Greetings All. I just bought a 2020 R1250RT with 1k mi. First cold ride and both seats do not fry my rear (my 07 RT would fry eggs). Dealer checked circuits and said all was good. I used heat gun and seat surface is only +/- 83F. Is this normal? I see a long post with praises for the Sargent seat which I understand from a comfort point of view...is the OEM seat heat for everyone also low and part of the replacement decision? Thx Greg

Did you set it to the highest level?

Greetings:
I have a 2015 RT and you can select multiple different temperature settings (five, I believe). I just looked at the manual for the 2020 and it also has five levels, with the fifth being rapid warm up. I know my stock seat went into cook mode on high, and the Sargent replacement I got (for comfort reasons) also gets quite toasty. If you have tried the different settings, then I would suspect something is amiss. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I asked dealer to order a new seat (warranty). Dealer said new models have been toned down because the 2005-2018 models had grips and seats that heated tooooo much. Could be, but I'll update after the new seat arrives.

A bit-o-follow-up: new dealer seat is installed. After 15 min. on high setting (5 bars), the new front seat skin temp is 97-100F...still not frying eggs. Do any of the community members with 2020 RT's and a temp gun have any seat skin temps to share?

I just carry a small camp stove and an aluminum skillet. Takes little more space, but keeps the oil off my riding pants.

My 18 seat and grips do very nicely in under 49 degree temps on 3, anything above that is too hot!! Used 4 on grips once, at 32 and mist

2021 R1250RT heated seat was cold as ice

My 2021 R1250RT seat never got above lukewarm. Riding into late fall in Wisconsin, you kind of count on warm tush! Dealer finally ordered a new seat replacement this spring and it is marginally better, but definitely is not even close to getting hot.
