New NAV VI

When my Nav VI began to have small reroutes I thought nothing about it. as time went on and got a few more I researched the forum and found similar cases. Then one day the screen went gray with no response to input. Yesterday I contacted Garmin and explained my problem. At first the tech started to think that the problem wasn't one to be concerned with until I told him that other MOA members had the same issues .
At that point he issued me a recall notice and label to get a new Nav VI. So it seems that Garmin does scan the MOA site and is aware of MOA members input , advice and customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the Nav VI and is more than willing to help. It also helped that my tech rides two wheels also. So it was good news and my new Nav VI will be in my hands by the end of March.

I currently have 6 Garmin GPS's, from a 550 and newer. I've only had a problem with one - my XT. I called Garmin about it and customer service got it replaced in a hurry.

I like Garmin products and especially their support. Nothing is infallible, we all get that. It's how the company reacts to failures that is the reputation we should be more aware of.

It's good to hear good words that support how well the company continues to treat it's customer base.

Can you explain what you mean by "...began to have small reroutes"? There is a widely-known issue with the screens on the Nav VI, where the GPS starts to act as if you had touched the screen, when there's been no user input. It's often referred to as "ghosting". Garmin has replaced many (number unknown) Nav VI's because of this issue. Some owners are on their fifth, or sixth, and Garmin cheerily keeps replacing them. I had one replaced a couple of years ago, and I also bought a new 2021-version Nav VI, and carry the warranty replacement unit as a backup.

I'm on my 3rd Nav VI. The first one experienced the fairly well known freezing/unresponsive issue. The second one encountered the well known ghosting issue. The latest one I just received happened to be a brand new 2021 version with the black instead of white background colour. Warranty replacements are normally refurbished units, and that was what I was promised this time too. I was told by Garmin support, as I've heard others being told too, that they hope to have a permanent ghosting fix by later this year. In the meantime, Garmin are sure doing a great job standing behind their product.

On my 3rd Nav VI. Garmin has replaced the defective one’s no questions asked and paid for the shipping both ways. I have no complaints.

re-routes

The re-routes you asked about are known as ghosting. I presume because it is like a ghost is using your gps.
