New Member - thinking about Patagonia

Hi all! I'm Chris and I'm riding a 2022 GSA. So far I've ridden the Colorado and New Mexico BDRs (solo) and now I'm toying with the idea of riding Patagonia in January or February. To be honest I have no clue about shipping my bike or planning the route yet but...that's part of the adventure! I'd appreciate any insights anyone has on either item. Thanks!

Welcome from Newfoundland.

There are a number of shipping options, what are you thinking? Just the Darien Gap or other sections?

I would suggest that the forum ADVrider.com will have answers to many if not all your questions. There are many ride reports on there of people doing the same trip. It's a great forum with many excellent people, I have been on there mostly daily for over 15 years. I warn you it is a very deep rabbit hole!

There are some interesting reads about embarking on such an adventure. Ed Culberson's book "Obsessions Die Hard" is very good -

There is a nice ride report on ADV of a couple that started a journey in 2005. Sadly, it appears that many of the images from this journey are no longer available [This is why I favor uploading images rather than linking them] -

Just welcoming U, Christopher...

U might notice that many successful ADVenturers are riding old-fashioned GS Airheads. They were built to be maintained on the local economy.

Tis up to you if ya want to venture forth on a nearly new GSA? :brow

It all depends on your stamina, backbone, and bank account’s density!

Whatever Rocks Your Boat!

Happy Trails whenever U can - Ciao!
