Fuel Starvation Issue or what? '87 K75s

Just to throw in my 2 cents worth. Went for my first ride of the season. didn`t get too far before the bike started acting up. Would idle and rev up in neutral but under load would only do a few m.p.h.
The long and the short of it was that the fuel supply line had disintigrated on the inside plugging every thing. I pulled the fuel filter and drained it and it was clear, but what I did notice was the end-cap
was"lifted ".On closer inspection I saw that the end cap was actually loose on the filter body. Changed the filter, reverse flushed the fuel lines, Installed a new supply line and the bike started and ran like new.I presume that under pressure the fuel would pump out of the filter causing the starvation problem.
