Repeating what others have already described, the newer iPhones have a very tall/thick camera lens assembly, preventing the phone from laying flat enough for the induction charger to work on the '21 and up R1250RT's.
I am now using a 1-foot USB A to Right Angle Lightning connector cable for charging while on the road. It is a little fussy but you get used to it quickly.

FWIW: I use an otter box for my iPhone 13 and the case brings the back of the phone in line with the camera pod. It charges fine in the cubby with wireless charging. I do use the clamp to keep it in place and avoid the release strap getting caught underneath the phone.
