Dances With Sheep
All,
Here is the official notice of a special activity we are having at the BMW MOA "Wander Farther" 50th Anniversary Rally in Springfield, MO this June:

THE CELEBRATION OF THE SLASH 5!

This year of 2022 marks the 50th Anniversary of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America! In honor of this occasion, the BMW MOA “Wander Farther” National Rally Grand Prize bike is a beautifully restored 1972 Monza Blue Toaster Tank R75/5. Photos of this bike will be in the May BMW Owners News magazine and posted on the BMW MOA Rally web page: https://rally.bmwmoa.org/. You will really want to win this stunning bike!

Because the Slash 5 series was so critical in the growth of the BMW motorcycle line and BMW clubs, we are also celebrating the whole Slash 5 series at our Rally with the “Celebration of The Slash 5” and are asking everyone with a Slash 5 to bring it to the rally! We are planning the world’s largest /5 “selfie” – a big group photo – and a special /5 Bike Show! Further, a representative from BMW AG’s Archive division will be giving seminars about the development of the /5 series.

If you have a /5, please bring it to the rally and participate in the group photo, the bike show, and be a part of the biggest showing of /5’s in decades! You do not have to be a BMW MOA member to attend. However, you can save money on your rally registration by registering early, and even more by joining the MOA while you register here: https://bmwmoaf.regfox.com/springfield.

If you think you will bring your /5, we are asking that you “register” at this link: https://airtable.com/shr1GvwLXT7GpwSQe. This is not a commitment but just a way for us to plan for how many /5s to expect. Please send questions to rallychair@bmwmoa.org. Hope to see you there!

Celebration of The Slash 5 last minute update

This is a last-minute reminder of “The Celebration of The Slash 5” activities being held at the BMW MOA Rally in Springfield, MO June 16th through the 18th.

First, our Grand Prize Bike is a restored Toaster Tank 1972 Monza Blue R75/5. There will be a display of “volunteered” /5s during the rally. You can sign up for this at a link below. There will be a Slash 5 Group Photo shoot Friday afternoon in the grandstand arena area, and a special Slash 5 Bike Show (judged by a selected team of judges) Saturday morning concurrent and co-located with the People’s Choice Bike Show. There will also be two seminars – one each Friday and Saturday – by Lutz-Michael Hahn from BMW Group Classic called “The /5 Series – The Start of a New Era.” Details on times and locations of these things are in the Rally Program which you receive at the Rally.

Infor about the Rally is here: https://rally.bmwmoa.org/, and you can register here: https://bmwmoaf.regfox.com/springfield.

We need volunteers to help with the Group Photo and setup for the Bike Show, and you can volunteer here: https://rally.bmwmoa.org/volunteer/?sheet_id=25.

And, finally, if you are bringing your /5 to participate in the Group Photo, Bike Show, or perhaps to display, please “register” here: https://rally.bmwmoa.org/celebration-5/, if you did not do this during your registration for the rally itself. This is NOT required, but just to help us plan for capacity, and is also to contact you if you would like to display your bike.
Thanks to everyone coming to the MOA Rally, and especially if you are bringing a /5!
