What is a SafeRide?

I bought my new to me 2009 R1200RT in January and have put almost 2000 miles on it since. I love it! Anyway, I opened the seat up this evening and found this laying under the back set. Apparently it came free from its adhesive velcro strip way in the back under the rear seat. It looks to be attached to an LED strip above my license plate. It doesnt come on when I apply the brake but the level suggests its some type of inertia switch. I cant seem to find any reference to it online. Anyone else have one, know how it works or how to test and mount it to work properly?

Google Fu just told me the product is a motion activated strobe light, claimed to engage before the brake light operates. It is activated by the bike deceleration. Rolling off the throttle, down-shifting, braking, all will activate the bright red strobe, alerting traffic to the motorcyclist and the fact the bike is slowing. Sounds pretty cool.
Perhaps you should get someone to ride behind you as you chop the throttle, hit the brakes, or downshift and see if it works.
