Who dares to question the great and powerful OZ?

This subject is an intriguing and evolving first amendment issue, but we’re not talking about yelling fire in a theater. To really understand the issues you needed to watch, or read, the congressional hearings on the subject. For example, during the hearing senators admonished Facebook’s head of product safety for withholding internal information about how its services hurt young people, and for not significantly changing those services. Mishandling customer information, and misleading congress are also issues that were discussed. Remember, a 25-year-old law, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, shields Facebook and other social network sites from content their user’s post. Immunity granted by congress is a rare privilege, and should be treated as such. The allegations are that Facebook has used the Act as a shield to make more money while harming others. The situation is still being investigated, and I have no idea what the outcome will be, but the allegations made by the whistleblower are serious. If found to be true, I too believe there will be changes.

I don’t like the idea of shielding those who negligently, recklessly, or, as may be the case here, knowingly harm others.

And get this, the hearing has united both sides of the aisle – a refreshing sight to see.

The last time that was experienced in mass I believe in the end right, which may have been temporarily defeated, was stronger than that evil act and prevailed.

Your language here is a little difficult to decipher, but it spurs me to make an observation about something that's about to happen, from a slightly different (actually, more than slightly) different part of Asia, that is super-relevant to what we're discussing.

The Chinese Communist Party is about to "express" a new resolution that will establish "truth" in the coming days. This is very significant point in world history.

40 years in the legal industry here and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that justice almost always prevails and prevails properly the vast majority of the time. The justice system grinds slowly, but it's always grinding and it grinds things exceedingly fine.

Meta is going to get their due, as will X, Insta and the rest of them.

In law, nothing is certain but the expense.

42 states now suing Meta regarding Facebook and Instagram

Seems like too little too late to me.

Perhaps googling "Pro Bono" might put some nuance around that reductionist bit of philosophy. :D

Certainly not Germane in this case.
