Where do people from Colorado vacation?

.........How about it Coloradoans. Where do you go on your time off?

As a long time Coloradoan and avid skier I get asked if I've ever skied in other states. I tell the inquiring party "No, I can't think of a reason to travel to another state when I'm a two to three hour drive from some of the best skiing on the planet."

The same logic, however, doesn't apply to riding. I can find beauty on just about any terrain (except I70 thru KS) so when the open road beckons I head out for points known and unknown.

That having been said I once met up with some Chicago-based RT riders who said they have to ride over three hours to get to some twisty roads. I feel sorry for you midwestern folk because my biggest dilemma is which twisty route to take on any given day.

I like to go to Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas in August. No annoying turns in the roads, no mountains blocking the views, and no crowds!

A buddy of mine who lives up in North Park north of Walden once took a trip down to Big Bend National Park in Texas. He stopped in Fort Davis for gas. While pumping the gas, a good ol' boy ambled over and noticed his Colorado license plate. "Y'all come down here to get away from all the snow?", he asked. "Nope, I came down here to get away from all the Texans".

as a Colorado Native from the top of a mountain i head to a large city to and enter an office cubical for a week and do data processing to see what the rest of the world is like...













though i always though life was a vactions, and vaction were more work than normal...
