I hated you guys. No offense. 2 rotations at NTC. My first rotation I spent as much time with the Engineers setting up mine fields and running concertina wire as I did on my tank. SUCKED. That was a dirty job.

Military Police

I served in the US ARMY :usa as a Military Policeman from 1984 to 1987. Basic training and AIT school at Ft McClelland Alabama and then stationed at Ft Stewart Georgia before going to Germany:german until my ETS.

I served for 24 total in the Reserves. Started out as MP at first which lasted less than a year then went Armor. Was a Plt Ldr, Company XO, Commo Plt. Ldr, Bn S-2 and Company Cmdr.

Then I went to a School unit and taught for several years, MOS Enlisted non specific, Armor ops (Ft. Knox), Officers Advance course (non branch specific as well as Armor) and Command and General Staff College. In the middle of that I also had a nice trip to Panama for Operation Just Cause.

I finished up in several staff puke jobs in various locations. My last was Reserve Mobilization liaison at Ft. Jackson. I stacked arms to take care of my wife after her cancer surgery.

You may have been my "guardian angel" back when I was sailing to many of those stateside areas.

The one time fatigue/bad judgement caused me to wind up on the beach on Santa Rosa Island, FL, it was the CG that came and pulled me off. There is always a beer or a meal for any Coastie at my place.

USAF at SAC HQ, Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE. 4 years, 1968-1972 as a systems analyst in the underground command post. The real "James Bond" kind of place!

Started out life as a Marine in the Signals Intelligence community. After my first school in Pensacola, FL I was stationed at Misawa Airbase Japan. Left there for Monterey, CA and language shcool. Spent 47 weeks learning Tagalog (Phillipino). Joined a Radio Recon unit out of Hawaii and spent some time in the Phillipines and the Persian Gulf during 90-91.

I saw a different opportunity in the Army to fly helicopters and was selected for the Warrant Officer Flight Training Program. I did flight training at Ft. Rucker, AL and then headed to Ft. Campbell, KY for my first assignment. Went to Bosnia in 97-98 and then headed back to Rucker to teach.

I retired in 2004 and have been teaching as an Army Civillian Instructor Pilot ever since.

Life is good.

Marines

In 1969 Out 1972

Rough tour Marine Barracks Pearl Harbor. Loved it there.

Few months at New River then GI Bill to Kent State.

Great experience. Went in when they treated you like Full Metal Jacket.

Where served? Lots of places, it's a mobile force, eh?
4 years active duty early 70s.
16 years USMCR
(Also spent my first 16 years of life as a USAF service brat. (Highlight... 2 yrs in Istanbul in the mid 60s with adventurous parents)
Worste duty, Helicopter door gunner HMM-165 / HMH-462.
Farorite food, Fire roasted Habu and fresh Bok choy is better than most c-rats!
Best duty...Night crew NCOIC El Toro, lots of days spent on Laguna Beach or Newport Beach surfing or prefecting mid weight frisbee and swiming skills. (unwitting training for 2 later decades of triathlons and marathons)
Or possibly NATO Ops Bodo Norway.

As luck would have it I have most crucial body parts intact.
And, so far the body has survived other complimentary service related afflictions.
And... I am happy to be riding the BMW brand , regardless of what the Germans think about the USA market.

Thought for the day; War is typically about personal power, rarely about personel empowerment. Win or lose the general population on both sides suffers!
Duh

Basic/Infantry/Airborne training at Ft. Benning, then off to Ft. Bragg for some fun times. 1985 - 1989 505th PIR, 82d Abn Div.
