What does one DO at the Rally?

WhAt does someone do at rally?

Walk, talk, see, listen, walk, sit, talk, listen, yawn, look, meander, nap, look interested, walk, eat, drink, so on, etc, etc. Get some good walking gear. Did I mention walking? :blush:type

Meet new friends on the way to the rally.

Meet new friends at the rally.

Besides the rally, there is the adventure of getting there and then back home.

A rally is :

An excuse to ride to somewhere new/different

A place to see motorcycles you don't see near home

Meet many neat and unusual people at the rally

Eat local food you don't find near home

Look at farkles and clothing you only see in magazines

Meet and enjoy the local people, their customs and the area

Find out if what you wear is really waterproof

Bike Sale Flea Market?

I live about an hour from the rally site and I have an extra G.S. I'd like to sell.
Do they have, will they have an area to sell used BMW bikes, gear etc.?

Thanks!

I have never seen a "for sale" area but have often seen bike's for sale. Park at a conspicuous spot where there will be a lot of foot traffic with a sign on the bike - for sale, year, model, miles, phone # etc.

What Paul Glaves said. Put a sign on it with all of the details and your cell number, and enjoy the rally. Good Luck.

why attend MOA Rally

I would like to add:

I started riding in 2001 at age 50 on a new R1150R. I immediately joined a local chapter club and MOA but my 1st National Rally was not until Lima, OH in '05.....and I was hooked! I added '06 VT, '07 WI, '09 TN & '11 PA. As a result, I have have ridden over 130,000 miles in 13 years to 20 states & 5 provinces, all because I enjoyed the rallies because.......

---Its like drinking from a fire hose, so much to do in a short time
---I often neglect to do some riding in the host region after arrival due to the distractions of the rally
---I stay in hotels but usually get to enjoy the local brews in the beer garden & the concets by using a taxi service or shuttle bus
---Volunteering is the heart of the experience
---Meeting people is easy and fun
---Rally site is enclosed, amazing gathering of like-minded people, a great experience
---Closing ceremony is exciting, I always think that this time I will be the winner!
---Sunday is a little sad because its over and we have to resume our real lives, but the fun is all worth the effort.
---MOA Rally is the highlight of my riding season, from the day I set out to the day I return home.

See you in Hamburg in '16!

Just curious as to how many people typically attend these rallys and if you have to ride a BMW? I would like to bring my 17 year old son along as we have a BMW RT and Yamaha Super Tenere... We could ride and camp at the rally together. Great Father Son bonding time..

There should be 5 or 6000 people there, give or take a few.
They let any type bike in, assuming you have a ticket for everybody.
The real adventure would be riding up there with your son.
And back. And maybe some extra stops and days along the way. (Not just up 15).
St George is a nice place, isn't it. I'll be up there in two weeks.
For the rally, I may just make a hot run up 15, but that's so I can get to Banff and Jasper before the rally, then back down to Billings.
