Vario Top Case Key Tumbler Removal

Can you remove the key Tumbler from a Vario top case (1200 GS LC/1250 GS) without the key? I have a line on a used top case, but the seller does not have a key. The case is unlocked and can be opened.

This may help, depending upon the vintage of the case. The inserted key just has to be A BMW key and not THE key, as I understand it:

The '03 & '04 cruisers use that same tumbler type... you can swap the whole tumbler out, or go the extra mile and move the individual blades around.

On my '04 gas cap, I just swapped the whole tumbler out using that same method.

Called my local dealer and he said that without the key, they typically drill out the lock. It's not easy to remove the tumber without the original key.

Maybe take it to a locksmith who does European cars, so you don't have to drill it and kill it...?
