:scratch Has anyone ever used Cycle Works for transmission repair work? They offer great BMW special tool alternatives but I don't know anything about the quality of their shop work.

Ed Korn used to own Cycle Works and he did crankshaft repairs/regrinding for /2 models...probably did more work than that. He has since sold the company. I don't know if Ed is still involved, maybe as a subcontractor??

Where are you located? Maybe there are other transmission rebuilders that you could consider as well. There's at least one on the west coast, two or more on the east coast, one in Colorado, another up Montana way...possibly Dr. Oak in Illinois... Others I'm sure...

I'm in Texas...pretty big state, though... Boxers by Bruce might be a place to consider; website is http://boxerbruce.com/_wsn/ up in the DFW area. In reality, shipping is not a big deal if you do it right, so just about any place you feel comfortable with could do the job if you can get it to them.

Bruce rebuilt a gearbox for me about 15 years ago while he was stlll at BMW of FT Worth. Is that back in the day? He's a good wrench.
