Today I took the back roads to the Lorelay here in Germany. It is the Rhine river valley and is the supposed home to a siren, luring sailors to their death. A few wrong turns here and there, and a surprise castle along the way, and I was able to enjoy absolutely amazing views.

And yes, that is a Trabant in the back ground of the pic of my mighty steed.

I started in wiesbaden. And headed north west. The roads where good and just twisty enough for me. At one point I missed my turn about 3/4 of the way there and took a different route. Came around a corner and was surprised by a castle which turned out to be Burg Reichenberg. Here I stopped to check my GPS and found that it was leading me to some steep switch backs. Not feeling up to those yet, I hoped on the nearby Federal highway. After some more twisty roads, I came out on the Rhine north of lorelay. So I headed south to my turn. Heading up the cliffs near Burg Katz, I was finally able to reach the top of the cliffs.
The ride home was a similar route. But this time I finally started to frust the bike and the tires. I started to take turns faster and with more lean. I'm not scrapping pegs yet, but I was finally leaning the bike more then the kick stand. That was until I got stuck behind a dump truck. After that, I was able to give the bike more of what it wanted and it started to come alive.

Likewise, spent 10 years in Germany between 79 and 92, still have the 83 R100RS that I drove over there.

I can highly recommend taking a trip down the Mosel River, from Koblenz to Trier. If the Nurburg ring is open, get your bike out on the track and enjoy it.
