Can I keep the existing shock on my 2001 r1100s if i replace my strut with a shorter one? My goal is to get the bike to turn in quicker. Thanks ~Paul

Are you refering to the Paralever arm? If so, the answer is yes, you can put on a shorter one to lift the rear up. I don't know what length is used on the R1100S, but I have heard of lots of owners putting the GS arm onto their RSs. If you have an oportunity, try to measure one to compare lengths. There are also aftermarket arms sold that are shorter than stock. I think Verholen is one manufacturer.

The Sport Suspension versions come from the factory with a shorter arm. You don't necessarily need the longer Sport Suspension shock, though.

And yes, a lot of folks just put the GS arm on, which is, I think 3/4" shorter. Repoe probably knows the right answer.
