Stebel Air Horns

METZEN

Metz
Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of adding some after-market accessories to my bike. One of the first things on my list is a new horn. I was wondering if anyone had any experience in installing and fitting a Stebel Nautilus Compact Dual-Tone Air Horn to an '03 or similar model LT. I also plan to get the wiring kit to make life a little easier. Do they fit easily, are they functional on a day-to-day basis and are they worth the money?

Any assistance would be appreciated, before I shell out the cash.

Thanks and best regards.

Good on the K75S

I can't offer an opinion on installing as I have a K75S. I installed a Stebel Compact on it last year and it was an pretty easy fit. I had to fabricate a minor bracket addition out of some aluminum stock, but it tucked itself neatly behind the modest fairing on the bike. There seems to be different experience regarding going with heavier wiring and relays, etc. I just used the factory wiring to the horn which does go through a relay and I have had no issue. I probably would be concerned if I was the type that leaned on the horn a lot and for long periods of time. And certainly there is no downside to going with a heavier wiring harness.

And they are LOUD! So overall I'm glad I put one on my bike - no buyer's remorse at all...

This is a no brainer accessory to add to your bike. I put one on my R1200GS and it's nice to have a loud horn on a bike.

Installation is easy but sort of putzy with running wires but nothing complex.

It's loud but it's not over the top.

I put a single one inside the front right side of my KRS in place of the OEM. Used the same bracket. Tight fit but works great. Left the OEM left side in place.

I have one on my K75 and it's fantastically loud. Saved my butt more than a few times.

My install was really easy. I didnt bother with the relay and mounted it to the same hole the stock horn attached to on the stock bracket. All I had to do was extend the stock wires.

Stebel Magnum

Magnums are an exact replacement for the OE horns, when powered by a separate relay system are very, very loud. (Shake the dust off the rafters and send the dog fleeing loud):nyah

I have 25,000 miles on mine and they work great.

Thanks

Just a quick thank you to all who replied. Your input was invaluable and greatly appreciated. I will definately go ahead with the purchase and installation of the horn.

Best regards, :wave

I'm about to buy one myself. Can anyone recommend a business/website to buy from?

I spent a good couple of days trying to track one down for cheap but came up empty. I ended up buying one from Bob's BMW since they're local to me. I hope you can come up with something better. $40 seems to be the going price from retailers.
