Stalk Mirrors for RT, K?GS?

Seems like many of the BMW mirrors would fit on the 1150RT. What experiences has anyone had with this simple add on?
I hate having to look down all the time to see where I was. Bifocals just aggravate the situation and the biggest prob is my wife can't see in the stock mirrors to do the makeup! I need to buy myself a BMW xmas present and the cash flow won't handle the Adventure right now. Anyone have a set of mirrors 4sale? Seriously folks!

I think a set of R-RS mirrors would fit in there. I'd want to check to see if they fouled the fairing at full lock, though.

Hi Tom! :wave

Fairing seems to get in the way...

I tried using those locations for a RAM mount. Either it got in the way of the sightline of the "main" mirror or I could not acheive lock. It is an easy enough dry fit though, if you go to a dealer before they assembly a bike you should be able to simply put it in place.

R1150GS mirrors fit well on the RT...just don't expect them to be as clear as the stock pod mirrors.

One other caveat...if you have a wider than stock aftermarket windscreen, they will contact at full lock. Aeroflow is the worst and Cee Bailey's #2 seems to be fine if the screen is raised some.

Happy mirror hunting.

Another Option

I was looking at my RT and wondered if a little stickon mirror on the "Dash" would work. Just kind of a cheap and easy solution that would give a little better view.

These are the locations I was thinking about:

Can't find a picture of the mirror. One of those little 2" convex mirrors for seeing the blindspot on car mirrors I was thinking about.

Make sense?

Anyone try it yet?

I can now officially report that the mirrors provided a great view of the sky, but that was it. Tried it today on a short ride, took them off after three miles down the road.

Stick 'em on some twist ties, and mount them to those fuzzy ears and report back for us sir.:D like a bicycle mirror only faster.

stalk mirrors on RT

I recently purchased a 2004 R1150RT and found that I was
having trouble seeing in the rear view mirrors through my tri-
focals. I had to drop my head down too far to see through the
top part of my trifocals. This made me nervous when going at
high speeds.

I ordered the rear view mirrors off of the CL since they looked
like they would avoid the windshield. I put them on tonight and they do not interfere with the windshield at full lock in either
direction.

I have not ridden it yet, but sitting on the bike in the garage it
looks like I can see what I need to without taking my eyes off of the road.

I like the look as it has some chrome, but it still has some black
that ties it in with the black color of my bike.

The part number is 71 60 7 658 937 and the price for the pair
of them and the bushings, washers, and nuts was $112.47.

I am new on this site and this is my first post, I hope I did not
make any mistakes in this post.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I failed to mention that the mirrors cleared with the windshield in the lowest position.

I have been enjoying the forum for several weeks, but had not received my membership so I was not able to post.
