Spectro Oil Question

I just opened a box of Spectro 4 oil (20/50) to find that is rated A.P.I. SL. Spectro's website states that it is SG/SH/JASO MA.

Anybody have any insight? Is it safe to use in my '92 R100R?

Thanks all,
mike

Well, for my 07 R1200GS, the manual says to use API SG oil; but the sticker under tank says API SE/SF.

I used the same Spectro oil, no issues, it's what my local independent BMW mechanic recommended.

Read this article by Snowbum, especially the large block of red text with a green background (gawd!!) down the page a bit. This subject came up on the Airheads list and Snowbum talked to an engineer. He was told that the oil is SG despite what it says on the bottle or on the website.

Use it...should be fine.

Thank's for the reassurance. I will relax and pour it in.
