Hi everyone,
I am brand new to this forum and I need some advice. I am not a member yet but if this goes through I will be..... I have been a member of another bike group (The Venturer's)for a couple of years. The thing is, I have never loved this present bike since the get-go. I have been riding a variety of bikes for over 40 years(just never a BMW). I always liked BMW. I looked at the R1200C before I bought my 2001 Royal Star Venture. The R1200 C didn't really fit the two -up riding for my wife and I. So I bought the Yamaha Venture. The Venture is one fantastic bike for touring and the open road. It's specialty is two-up and long distance. But like I said I have never loved this bike. Too heavy, too BIG, too high too everythingand a bear to handle at slow speeds...(other Ventures disagree but it is true!) My wife rides with me but only once in a while. We are both not small people I go about 6' and 245 and we will not go into information about my wife. I want to live to ride another day...... Yesterday I stopped at the BMW dealer and saw a used 2003 R1200CLC(only 1000 mi.). I liked the look size and almost everything about it. NOW, for the point of this post. I know this is a BMW forum and that is why I am here. I go to the people that ride them to find out the low down on a bike. Sales people will tell you just what YOU want to hear and leave out some of the more important things like recalls and Small concerns about their brand of bike. And of course their brand is by far the best on the market for this reason or that reason. Ok, What is the members opinion of this bike. I REALLY LIKE IT! I no longer want a big heavy touring bike or I would try out the LT. What are the concerns and any problems that you are aware of other than the usual inter-forum differences of opinion about old BMW vs. newer BMW. Is this a good bike and what is a fair used price from a dealer for it. I loved the ride and feel of the bike almost like a sport tourer? Please advise any info you have... Thanks bcircus
