Back in the day i had my Honda ST 1300 seat reupholstered to lower the seat height it at a place name Spencers. I now have a 2016 R1200 RT with the regular seat that i need lowered. Spencer is no longer in business and the other shop that does seat lowering (mean city cycles) said they do not do BMW seats. These companies are around $150 plus shipping. Has anyone found a company that does this service. I know you can buy a low BMW seat or get a custom seat but they are over $500. Just checking to see what could be out there.

Seat bases ate identical.
This has probably been mentioned before, I don't see how it couldn't have been, but I haven't seen it. The seat bases (the plastic framework upon which all the padding and covering is applied) for the Low and Regular height seats are exactly the same, they even have the same part number. What is different is the amount of padding on the Low seat, you get far less and there is a noticeable increase in the hardness of the Low seat.
I purchased a low seat at a giveaway price just to have something while my Regular height seat was at Russell. I was quite surprised to find that the bases were the same. Makes sense when you think about it. There's no space under the seat into which a genuinely lowered seat could fit.

Do you know how to tell the difference between a low and regular seat? At 5’8” I could stand to be just a touch lower, but might have the low seat already as my seat is rock hard. It works ok but after about four hours I am wishing for something else. Nothing like the seat on my old 03 k1200gt which I could ride all day.

If there is a dealer near you, ride in and look at a showroom bike - it will have the "std" or "normal" height seat.
Search the webs for images, and see if the "std" seat looks the same as yours or if yours has more "dip" to it.
I bought a low seat. Hope it works. Should be delivered in a day or two. At 5" 8" (and approaching 70) it is hard handle in town. I also have an air hawk seat cover that I used on my ST 1300 for long trips. I have found being short allows me to stand on the pegs and still be behind the windshield on the open highway. I do that for my knees and butt. Thanks for the comments.
