right handle unit.... :(

That is what MaxBMW's fiche calls it. Was riding down the road this afternoon. All of a sudden the right mirror fell off. I had recently tightened it. So I stopped and walked back to pick it up. Only it wasn't just the mirror and post. It was part of the right handle unit casing. Closer scrutiny shows that it was previously repaired with what looks like JB Weld. It doesn't appear to have impacted the integrity of the brake fluid reservoir.

So my question is, is finding a used part possible?? The price of a new one is next to prohibitive.......

Ouch, sorry to hear. Try calling re-psycle.com, they have always been very good to me.

Glad to hear it stopped raining long enough for a nice ride :)

Does anyone have the fitament on the unit I need? what years/models if I'm looking used? Was BMW pretty standard for this part during those years?

For the right-handle unit, it appears to be part number "32722352165" - looks like it is the same for all years of the R1100RS, R1100RT, R1100R, R1100GS, and the R850R. Another place people seem to have luck is with BeemerBoneyard.com.
