Rallye and GS Dry Pants Knee Pad Fit

Today I tried on some Size 52 Rallye pants and Size 52 GS Dry pants at the local BMW dealer. With both pairs of pants the knee pads were positioned below my knees when standing and sitting on a bike. We tried adjusting the knee pads to a higher position on the GS Dry pants but the knee pads were still too low for my comfort and any real protection. We weren’t able to reposition the knee pads in the Rallye pants. For the record, I’m 5’7” tall, 175-180 lbs, 34” waist.

Does anybody else have a problem with knee pad position on these pants? If so, any suggestions? It looks like the Rallye pants have a short size for me (Size 26) in just one color. Will the knee pads fit better with the size 26 pants? It doesn’t look like the GS Dry pants come in short sizes so that option is out.

The knee pad position is very important to me. I had a motorcycle accident 7 weeks ago. I went down at 65 MPH on a local highway, no one else was involved and I only hit the bike and the pavement. One of the knees on my Klim Latitude pants ripped open, the knee pad came out and I got much bruising and road rash on that knee. Even though I'm still recovering I want to ride again and looking at replacement gear helps pass the time.

Can you try one BMW's Short sizes instead of their regular 52? I buy their Tall sizes because I'm tall - so I think the point of Short and Tall sizes is appropriate armor location, in addition to garment length of course.

They appear to make just short pants for just the Rallye in just one color. Dealer does not have them in stock so I can't try them.

FWIW, I don't think it's too unusual for the dealer to order in a couple of BMW garments for you to try on. If your dealer hasn't already offered to do so, you could make that request.

The dealer sort of agreed to do so. If I say the world they will order the short pants. Just hedging a bit on spending that much money. Think that it's worth it?

BMW gear is indeed expensive but hard to beat in terms of design and construction quality. Their armor is the best, IMO.

Fit is crucial however for both safety and comfort. You're probably aware that there are other pants offered in Short sizes that are less expensive and might fit you well. For example:
