Anyone Know Where I Might Find Installation Instructions For The Bmw Radio On My 1150rt. It Came With No Instructions. Would Appreciate Any Help As To Where I May Find It Online.

Thanks, Darrel

So its got the separate radio unit and display in the dash? How much of the radio kit is already installed (ie, speakers, radio box, or antenna in place)? I imagine the trim panel around the instruments has to come off, as well as the left fairing panel to get at the radio box. Could be a bit involved, but I imagine all the connectors are in the wiring harness already.

The left side panel has to come off. Then you have to remove the upper portion of the radio compartment. There's a nut holding it in place right under the top lip of the cover.

If the bike is wired for a radio, there's a harness in there already, but I suspect, you have to take out the radio chassis carrier to lock it in place.

Once you plug the harness into the radio, you might have to enter some security code so the radio works, depending on what model you are using.

In 2003 they stopped installing speakers ahead of time, so you might also need the speakers, but the wiring harness should be there.

I did it! And I have pictures to prove it. I found this site: http://www.snafu.org/pics/r1150rt/radio/. Mine was not a standard BMW factory radio. I bought a Clarion AF/FM/CD with remote. I posted my pictures on this forum some time ago. I did mine with fiber-optics, but your installation should be about the same as snafu's. It is easy, once you know how. :brow
