R850R Luggage

I thought that it would be pretty easy to find a set of used system cases for a 96 R850R/R1100R. Wrongo.

I have checked with Re-Psycle and Beemer Boneyard. Are there any other sources I should check ? This is a bargain commuter, so I need to expect to get wet, but the solution can't cost more than the bike ! TIA

Watch ADV Riders and IBMWR flea markets, beaters go cheap, nice ones a bit more.

Whatever you get, make sure the left one is correct for your exhaust (high exhaut bag can be used with low exhaust on bike, just lose some space in the bag for no reason

Good luck - it took me a while to buy enough broken cases to get all the parts to build my set, but I ended up with enough to build a spare single at the end which I sold for $125 to another member. Takes a bit of looking to find a good used set. If you go on EBAY remember that there are some guys out there who think their stuff is made of solid gold as well as a fair number of "Junk Salesmen" who are trying to peddle stuff that should be in a landfill; (Last week I bought a new left side saddlebag for my R1100RT for $363.00 and provided the lock from the damaged one. At the same time, some nut on EBAY wanted $470 for a used one).

I forgot to tell you...

The left saddlebag from an RT or RS model will not work on your 850; you need one that makes space for the exhaust system from an R bike or possibly a GS
