R1150RS rear amber lights always on and melt socket

Is there a way to turn these lights off without disabling the turn signal function? It gets expensive replacing rear light sockets every year.

If your rear amber lights are always on then you probably have some kind of aftermarket item on the bike. Are the bulbs dual element? Factory bulbs are single element.

It sounds like a Kissan Signalminder. Look up the switch sequences to turn the running lights off. I had the same problem with contact erosion in the bulbs and sockets.

Signalminder is a snap-in replacement for the stock turn signal relay, so easy to check. It would light both front and rear turn signals, however...couldn't tell from OP if fronts are on as well (just not melting).

Found it. Flasher + Cancel cycles through intensity/off

Thanks to posts on this site I tried holding down the flasher and cancel buttons at the same time. This cycles through intensity and on/off settings. I've got them turned off now. And now I know how to turn them back on for rides at night or in the rain and snow.
