Hi guys, stripped out the gearbox of my 2000 r1100rt and found the drive coupling was loose enough to make the knocking noise so have installed a shim washer to take up clearence, also noted my clutch push rod dosent have the slot for the felt seal/ noise damper, is this correct was there some bikes with a solid push rod, or should I have it machined and purchace a felt?:scratch thanks in advance Jimmy
 
There is no need for the felt on your models pushrod.
You have a cable actuated clutch.

1150 and 1100S models have a hydraulically actuated clutch using a slave cylinder that would allow fluid to leak along the pushrod when it failed, contaminating the clutch disc.
Pushrods on later models past mid '02 came with the felt modification as an attempt to minimize the flow of fluid in the event of a slave failure.
In order to be really effective a 1/8" hole needs to be drilled in the bottom of the slave cavity of transmission case for the fluid to escape.

Hi once again I cant thank you enough for your reply, I figured so myself due to the so called clean sealed bearings, but had wondered when I heard it said the felt was there to dampen noise, as this is what I am trying to do with this strip down,:scratch, so have ordered new bearings and seals and will reassemble the box when it gets warmer, once again thanks so much ,jimmy:ca
