NorCal 49'er 2025 Rally

r0ckrat

MOA #221145
Anyone going to the 49'er this year? I'm checking with the missus to see if it's feasible, but not likely able to attend this year.

It's always sounded like a fun one, and I'd love to be able to ride the NorCal roads more, but just might not be in the cards this year.

Thinking about it. The roads outside Mariposa are sweet, but plan on it being pretty warm there.

For sure, but I’ve also been to 49ers where the heat turned to rain, leading to crossing Tioga homebound with 6” of snow on the ground and more falling. Isn’t spring grand?

Speaking of Tioga—is it still possible to just show up at the gate and get a time-stamped transit pass, or is a reservation required just to transit through the park?

Best,
DeVern

Planning to. Recovering from a total reverse shoulder replacement. Should be in good shape by May! Since ‘78 I’ve only missed a couple.

Absolutely the best "large" Club Rally held annually! Was fortunate to have ridden out (from KY) for their 50th a couple years back.
And that excellent affair was a "road show" held up in Quincy, within the Plumas NF.
Can only imagine what their home base of Mariposa is like!

70 is amazing, isnt it?

Yes… and I’ve yet to ride the Paxton west portion! No feather in my cap yet.
So many roads, so little time.
I was up there one fall for a rally and there'd been an accident at the first bridge heading up to Quincy. The cops had the road closed but let us motorcycles through before the bridge was cleared.

Absolutely empty roads the whole way up and it was like MotoGP with a half dozen or so Beemers just hauling ass. :ha

A very memorable ride!

Of course. Law enforcement was all back at the accident scene. :)
They were. And when a CHP on a motor rolled up and asked if we wanted to get through before the cars, we were all over it. Along the way, they had a couple spots with flaggers, so we'd all recollect there and then it was RACE ON to the next one. :ha

I was riding Tina's RS and it was having a Very Good Day heading up the Feather River Canyon.

Going to head to the 49er from Las Vegas on Thursday morning, the 22nd. Just under a 500 mile ride taking the interstate route,15 to Bakersfield then straight up 99 through Fresno to Mariposa to get there. Will take a scenic rides once there and again on the way home to LV—anyone know if Sherman Pass will be opened on Memorial Day weekend?

Not sure about Memorial Day Weekend, but it's currently open as far as I can tell from CalTrans and Google Maps. I don't think that's one that usually closes for holidays like many fun roads down here in the L.A. basin...

Getting packed and ready to leave Friday morning ultimately for Mariposa (49’er Rally), arriving Thursday afternoon. Along the way I’ll be attending a friend’s 90th birthday, visiting friends, attending a horse show and doing a little bass fishing.

Seventeen weeks after total reverse arthroplasty of my right shoulder, I’m back in the saddle. Couldn’t have turned out better! My route will be from home to Ontario, OR, Burns, OR, Lakeview, OR, Alturas, CA, for the first night. Alturas to Chico, CA, and back the same day. Spend several days in this area and head out Thursday morning from Janesville, CA, to Minden, NV, Jackson, CA, Mariposa, CA. This is a good rally. As long as I’m able to ride, I’ll try to keep attending. First time attending: May 1978

I recently re-entered the BMW world after 14 year absence. I am thinking of going to the 49er rally, but undecided if I should get there Friday late or mid-day Saturday. If you have their a schedule, I'd like to know:
For Friday: What events are listed. Is there a band playing Friday night?
For Saturday: When does breakfast close? What classes/events are set for the daytime? Is their live band playing Saturday night?
For Sunday: I'm probably heading home, because I start a new job Tuesday.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Also, I noticed this major event is missing from events listed with the BMWMOA. Is that on purpose, or an accident?

This “sticky” may help you-

Members and organizers are welcomed and encouraged to post up their local events- usually in the specific Regional Sections of the Forum along with reports on the event itself.

Each month, near the last few pages of the ON monthly magazine, there is a rather comprehensive list of upcoming events that the office/editor has been notified of.

How was the Rally and the attendance?

The rally was very good. Attendance seemed down but those present had a good time. They rallied hard. The events were well organized and laid out. It was obvious that the club has hosted this rally many times. On my way back to ID, 500 miles today, 400 tomorrow and home for dinner. One note and this may apply to other rallies: seems that more attendees are choosing to drive their pickups and RVs impacting those of us still riding🤷‍♂️. Anyway, another one for the books. Have a great summer. Make memories!
