49’er Rally Anyone?

With the rally approaching over Memorial Day weekend (5/25-29), in Mariposa, CA, at the fairgrounds, just sending out an invitation to attend. It’s a good rally, well done and a good place to spend the holiday weekend. Sponsored by NorCal BMW Club. Check it out.

I attended years ago and remember camping in a covered stock pen. It was a good rally but there were some tense moments at registration as I showed up (from Minnesota) on a Gold Wing and required a “sponsor” to get in. Luckily MOA president Keith Dempster was there to “vouch” for me and I pretty much kept the Wing out of sight that weekend while on the grounds. Hopefully that requirement has been relaxed a bit.

There are some great roads around there. Old Priest Road north of Mariposa was especially memorable!

A lot of good roads between here and there. I’ll be on the road in the morning.

As many times as I’ve attended, I tend to “get lost”, on the way. In the past, I’ve headed north to travel south including several times over the N Cascade Highway across the sound, around the Olympic Peninsula, down the WA, OR, N CA, coasts, through Napa Valley and down through the gold rush country, to the rally.
