Newbie: '99 K1200RS tires - what's good, what's bad?

I expect to pick up a 1999 K1200RS with low miles next week and I'm anticipating I'll need tires for it. Are there current recommendations for particular tires? A compromise between performance and mileage would be appropriate. Thanks for your advice.

Congrats on the new ride.
Opinions on tires are like noses...everybody has one.
When I had my K12RS I found the Pirelli Angel GT's to suit the type of riding I do.

Good luck!

I'm running Michelin PR3 rear and PR4GT front on my R1100RT. I am also running PR3's on my K1100RS and my buddy is going PR4GT on his K1100RS. My other buddy is finishing a set of PR3's on his K1200GT and then he is gonna shoe it with the PR4GT front and the PR3 rear. Just did a R1200RT with PR4GT's and he was very happy.

So far, been running Michelin for three years on my bikes and my buddies and the overall average has exceeded 10K miles.

I'll second the Michelin Pilot Roads. On my K12RS I've run the PR2s, 3s, and now 4s. I understand the 5s are due in 2018.
I've found them far better than the first gen Dunlop Roadsmarts I had run previously. Over 10k on all the PRs.
