New posts vs Quick Links > Today's Posts

From what I can gather by reading the forum FAQs:

Quick Links > Today's Posts (shows posts created in the past 24 hours)

New Posts - a listing of all threads that have been created or updated since your last visit

The Quick Links button only appears to members who are logged in.

The difference here is that New Posts will show you all of the posts in the forum that you have not already read, or in some way, marked as read. (The hedge is that there's a time limit on how long the New Posts search remains valid, and after that point those posts in the search are assumed to have been read.) But this can pull up posts that are much older than today, if you haven't visited the forum recently.

Today's Posts shows you all of the postings from the last 24 hours, regardless of whether you've read them before or not.
