My DIY Throttle Body Sync

I just made a manometer and used 2-stroke oil. Even though both tubes were connected to the TB ports, the oil got sucked out of the tube. ???

And just before that I had the same problem w/ a mercury carb stick. My stick fell over unbeknownst to me and there went my mercury. Luckily I found some that was extra from the stick. That got sucked out, too. I've used that stick for decades and never had a problem.

Any thoughts?

Clamp the tube closed with vise grips until the engine is running and/or use longer tubing so the fluid is pulled back the other way before it reaches the cylinder.

This is what I made to balance my throttle bodies on my 04 RT. The feet just slip in to fittings and are removed when storing. I use to strap it to my motorcycle and ride down the street under load to balance throttle bodies.

Thanks lkraus for the tube clamping suggestion. That didn't solve the problem but I did need it further down the road.

So I followed the instructions that seem to be suggested frequently: 1/8" id hose, 12' of hose, 2-stroke oil or ATF, and specific gravity. I used the former. First problem was it was impossible to get rid of the bubbles in the line. I think it had to do with the narrow opening and oil surface adhesions. Second was i kept sucking the fluid into the TB.

I went two sizes up to a 3/8" id hose, water, and 20' of hose. That was the perfect combination for me along with the clamping of what I needed as a connector hose (and vacuum line connectors). Long trip next week so kinda amped.

Thanks to all.
