Motolight Bulb Replacement

I need to replace a bulb (and possibly a gasket, as I saw some moisture inside) on a Motolight on my 1995 R1100R.

By chance, does anyone have the magic incantations (or just plain tips) necessary to open the light and access the bulb? Motolight has a sheet of instructions, but I suspect the instructions are for more recent versions of the light.

Thanks for any help!

Interesting - the newer style has a retaining ring on the face that you use a pin wrench to open. Hard to tell from these pictures, but I would imagine that these unscrew from the face too? Maybe a piece of soft rubber placed on the glass and turned with the palm of your hand?

Motolight says to call them for the older style

BTW, you can buy the Sylvania 12v 35 watt MR16 lights from your favorite store for super cheap. I think I had a 10 pack for under $15 - they are used as puck spot lights for art/cabinets/etc.

I had trouble opening up my Moto Lights some time ago. I think the threads get galled up and are very hard to get the face off. I think I used some penetrating oil and a rubber strap wrench to finally break it loose.

Based on a suggestion above, I used a piece of neoprene and twisted the lens right off. It turned out that LED replacement bulbs were cheaper than the incandescents. Of course, now I have to change the bulb in my headlight to LED...
